What do you want?

What do you want? No...what do you really want?
That can mean different things. It can mean what is the end goal. Sometimes we think we want something, but that thing that we think we want isn't actually it. "It" is usually a feeling. We might say we want to get a six pack, and we probably do. What we really want is to set an example for our kids on how to be healthy. We want the feeling that we are doing what we can to show them how to eat and live so they can learn, so we can tell them if they are going wrong and not be complete and utter hypocrites.
We want something deeper, something more meaningful. This thing that we think we want, is usually a means. Our "why" is often what we actually want. We want to be and feel like we're an example for our kids. That is what is going to drive us to keep taking correct action day after day.
Going back to the original question, what do you really want, I said it can mean different things. It can also refer to what you want in the moment. When you're starting to let the snacking and the junk in, ask yourself, what do you really want. Do you really want the junk? Do you really want what you say you want?
Most of the time, what ever I think I'm craving, I don't really want it. It's usually just impulsive behaviour which has crept in. Behind it all, is what I want. And that's something much healthier.
