Keeping it current

Losing weight and keeping it off is really down to a collection of habits. Regulating food intake on a daily basis. It doesn't have to be perfect but it does require cutting down on the calories over a period of time. It may require periods of being stricter, so less calories, prioritising protein and then loosening up a little afterwards be still maintaining a watchful eye over intake.
It's about working out on a regular basis. Usually about 3-5 times a week. That has to be done consistently.
However, what is the precursor to all of that? What ensures those habits stay in place on a more consistent basis?
Why. I've mentioned the "why" before. Now that is important. It's important to make sure that stays at the forefront.
Awareness. Being aware of what we're doing. Creating a gap between the impulse and the action so we can catch the impulse before it leads to action, then eventually let go of the impulses.
Who. Being aware of who we need to be to get what we want
What. Know exactly what we want. For me, at the moment its hitting 68Kg and keeping it there. Its looking great and feeling great. Its being my authentic self, which is my deeper "who." The reason I want to be my deeper "who" is because that is the real me. The authentic me.
Now, I've mentioned the habits of regulating diet and consistent training. What I've realised, or am realising is the importance of the above points. Not necessarily the importance of those, I was aware of that, but more importantly the necessity of reviewing those consistently.
Those are some of the main habits. Reviewing them, connecting with them regularly. If we can keep those at the forefront of our minds, then the rest becomes easier.
That isn't to say that I do that. I need to. I get lazy, I forget like everyone else. Things get in the way. What I realise now is the importance of the habit of reviewing them regularly.
It's about keeping all of that, the who, the what, the why, the awareness, current. When we can habitually and consistently keep it all current, then we can really make progress.
